From November 14, women – who wish to spend some quality time with friends and families – can visit Mahila mall in Kozhikode that will be fully operated and managed by women.
The mall, considered to be the first-of-its-kind in south India, is located in front of Fathima hospital. A 10-member women committee (Unity group) – formed under the community development societies of corporation’s Kudumbashree – will manage the mall.
Now, arrangements to put up stalls are progressing at the five-storey building. Corporation’s Kudumbashree unit started the project with the support of state and district Kudumbashree missions and Unity group. Kudumbashree Mission, National Urban Livelihood Mission and the corporation’s unit together pooled in over Rs 3 crore for the project.
