Club chief confirms Manchester United transfer interest in ideal Ander Herrera replacement

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed Manchester United are one of the clubs chasing the transfer of Tanguy Ndombele this summer.

The 22-year-old has had a superb season in Ligue 1, showing himself to be one of the most exciting young players in Europe to attract interest from a host of top sides.

With AS reporting that United midfielder Ander Herrera has agreed terms on a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain once his contract expires this summer, it makes sense that the Red Devils could be tracking a player like Ndombele to replace him.

Still, they’d face plenty of competition for a quality player like Ndombele, with Aulas also naming Manchester City, Juventus and PSG as among his admirers in an interview to Tuttosport, as translated by Sport Witness.

“It’s true [Juventus are interested]. But there’s also PSG, Manchester United and Manchester City,” Aulas said.

“Honestly, I’d like to see Ndombele at Juventus with Pjanic, a player we helped developed at Lyon to whom we’re still linked. We’ll see what happens”

Manchester United star’s entourage give green light to Real Madrid transfer

Representatives of Paul Pogba have opened the door to a possible switch to Real Madrid for the Manchester United midfielder this summer.

The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this season, after a turbulent ten months which has seen United slip even further down the pecking order in English football.

The 26-year-old has been a key player for the Red Devils once again, but his inconsistent performances have reignited rumours that he is hoping to leave the club at the end of the campaign.

As per BBC Sport, Pogba admitted back in March that playing for Madrid one day is a “dream” and the Spanish giants could launch a bid for his signature after sealing a deal for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.

Diario Gol reports that the Man United star’s entourage has given the green light for him to move to transfer to Santiago Bernabeu this summer, with Zinedine Zidane set to make major changes to his squad.

The Blancos have endured a nightmare 2018-19 campaign and the French boss will be granted a war chest to revamp the squad this summer.

He is hopeful of bringing his fellow countryman to the club, but Madrid’s first priority is sanctioning Hazard’s arrival before they turn their attention to Pogba.

Pogba in action for Man United

It appears that the France international’s time in Manchester may be coming to a swift end before he has managed to fulfil his vast potential in the famous red shirt.

Pogba’s second spell at the club has seen him take up the mantle as the team’s main man, but he has not managed to produce the goods on a regular basis, with only a Europa League and Carabao Cup winners medal to his name so far.

He has also been described as a disruptive influence in the dressing room and some United supporters might be happy to see the back of him as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer aims to usher in a new era.

That being said, this particular transfer saga could have plenty of twists and turns yet in the next couple of months, with the market set to reopen at the end of May.

Klopp identifies ideal replacement if Mane leaves Liverpool for Real Madrid transfer

Liverpool may reportedly have to think about replacing Sadio Mane this summer as transfer rumours involving Real Madrid’s interest in the Senegal international just not going away.

Not so long ago, Marca linked Mane as a top target for Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, which makes sense after his superb season at Anfield and the Spanish giants’ need to strengthen up front due to still having failed to adequately replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

A report from Don Balon today, however, stated Liverpool had slapped a £173million asking price on the former Southampton star as they seem determined not to sell.

Should Jurgen Klopp’s hand be forced, however, it seems the Reds boss would be keen on signing Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele as Mane’s replacement, according to Diario Gol.

The France international has not exactly lived up to expectations at the Nou Camp, but looked one of the most exciting young players on the planet at former club Borussia Dortmund.

An entire XI of Man Utd targets, with Sancho and Koulibaly joined by €80m forward and potential world record transfer

The way things are going for Manchester United at the moment, we imagine most fans would be reasonably happy with this squad to be replaced by an entirely new XI for next season.

A growing number might even want the manager included in that, but given that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was only given the job on a permanent basis just over a month ago, we imagine he’ll probably be sticking around.

And if various reports are to be believed, the Norwegian tactician could oversee a huge overhaul at Old Trafford, with this squad clearly in need of major surgery in so many areas.

In fact, given the huge levels of transfer gossip involving Man Utd, we’ve managed to put together an entire XI of the club’s rumoured transfer targets.

We’re not suggesting this is at all realistic, but here’s a look at how United could in theory line up next season if they did indeed sign one new player for each position…

GK: Jan Oblak

Jab Oblak is a transfer target for Manchester United to replace David de Gea

With David de Gea in such poor form and being linked with Paris Saint-Germain by the Daily Star, it could be that we see a new goalkeeper head to United this summer.

ESPN claim the club are already considering a big bid for Atletico Madrid shot-stopper Jan Oblak, with an offer to trigger his release clause and make him the most expensive GK of all time.

CB: Toby Alderweireld

Linked strongly with United last summer, Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld has had another fine season and supposedly remains firmly on the Red Devils’ radar.

The Sun claim the Belgium international, who can leave for just £25million this summer, remains among Solskjaer’s top targets, which makes sense given the desperate need to replace flops like Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.

Chelsea line up return for club legend in bid to win over fans

Chelsea are reportedly readying an offer and a role for Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech at Stamford Bridge for next season.

The former Blues goalkeeper left the club for a move to Arsenal back in 2015, but remains a legendary figure in west London after spending the bulk of his career there and winning various major honours.

Cech is now set to retire from playing at the end of this season, so could be available for a new job, with the Telegraph reporting Chelsea want to take advantage with a move to improve the mood at the club after such a difficult campaign.

It is not yet clear how the former Czech Republic international might fit in at CFC, but one imagines the club will find something for him.

The Telegraph suggest Cech could be given elements of the technical director’s job, with Chelsea still to actually replace Michael Emenalo in that role.

Sarri tipped for swift Serie A return as Italian giants target Chelsea boss for top job

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has reportedly been identified as a possible successor for Gennaro Gattuso at AC Milan.

The 60-year-old coach moved to Stamford Bridge last summer after three years in charge at Napoli, but his first season in English football has been turbulent, to say the least.

The Blues are currently fourth in the Premier League with two matches of the season remaining and they have a Europa League semi-final tie against Eintracht Frankfurt to look forward to next month.

However, Sarri has come under a great deal of criticism for his rigid tactical style and stubborn selection policy, with Chelsea unable to maintain a challenge for the title over the last 10 months.

According to the Evening Standard, the Italian has been tipped for a swift return to Serie A this summer, with AC Milan ready to target him for the top job at San Siro.

Gattuso’s position at the helm is under real threat after Milan’s Coppa Italia semi-final exit at the hands of Lazio during the week and the club has already begun lining up candidates to replace him.

The Rossoneri may end up missing out on qualification for next season’s Champions League which could seal Gattuso’s fate and Sarri has joined ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conte on the club’s list of proposed men to come in and revamp the squad.

Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso

However, ES reports that Sarri is hoping to remain at Stamford Bridge for the foreseeable future, as he revealed before watching his team secure a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against Manchester United on Sunday.

“The Premier League is wonderful and I want to remain in the Premier League,” said Sarri. “I want to remain at Chelsea because the level is very, very high.

“The atmosphere in the stadiums is really fantastic. And so it’s a wonderful championship. I’d like to remain here.”

The veteran tactician’s latest comments may well point to an extended stay at Stamford Bridge, but his time at the club could yet be cut short if the team suffers a disappointing end to the 2018-19 campaign.

Although Sarri would be the ideal fit for Italian giants Milan, it appears that he is still determined to prove himself in English football and thusly the Chelsea board may have a huge decision to make at the end of May regarding his future.

“I hope to find a new club” – Barcelona star reveals desire to seal a transfer away from La Liga giants

Barcelona look set to lose one of their stars this summer, the ace has revealed his desire to find a new club in a bid to secure more playing time.

According to Goal via Ziggosport, goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has revealed his desire to move to a new club this summer, the Dutchman currently plays second fiddle to Marc-Andre Ter Stegen but after turning 30 last week the stopper has got to the stage in his career where he needs first-team football.

Cillessen moved to Barcelona in the summer of 2016, replacing Claudio Bravo who moved to Manchester City. Cillessen has been Ernesto Valverde’s stopper for domestic cup competitions and Cillessen has always showed his shot-stopping talents when called upon.

During his three-year spell in Barcelona, Cillessen has won two La Liga tiles, two Copa Del Rey’s and also one Spanish Super Cup.

Cillessen has performed well whenever he’s been called upon for Barcelona. The Dutchman could be a starting keeper for some of Europe’s elite.

Here’s what Cillessen had to say on a potential transfer this summer:

“After this season I will go on vacation first and then I hope to find a new club to get more playing time.”

Cillessen has been a wonderful servant to Barcelona and given his service to the club there won’t be any ill feelings towards him from Barcelona’s fans, player and hierarchy.

Cillessen would be a handy signing for any of Europe’s elite that are in the market for a new first-choice goalkeeper.

Manchester United move ahead of Arsenal in running to seal £56m transfer

Manchester United reportedly look to be one of the main contenders to seal the transfer of Real Madrid misfit James Rodriguez this summer.

The Colombia international is nearing the end of a two-year loan with Bayern Munich, and his future has been up in the air for some time.

MORE: Could Gareth Bale reignite the United attack?

Don Balon recently claimed Rodriguez was likely to be sold by Real Madrid for around £56m, with Arsenal at the front of the queue as Bayern chose not to keep him permanently.

The latest update from Don Balon, however, does not even mention Arsenal as one of the options for Rodriguez, instead saying the 27-year-old would prefer another chance at Real, while Manchester United and Inter Milan prepare to pounce in case he does leave Spain.

The Red Devils could perhaps do with a signing like Rodriguez as Juan Mata nears the end of his contract, though there’s no doubt he could also have done a fine job for Arsenal.

“I have a personal agreement” – Arsenal and Liverpool transfer target opens up on future with Prem move still possible

Borussia Monchengladbach winger Thorgan Hazard has spoken out about his future, admitting he has a personal agreement to seal a transfer to Borussia Dortmund.

The Belgium international, the brother of Chelsea forward Eden Hazard, has shone in his time in the Bundesliga, despite failing to make it at Stamford Bridge earlier in his career.

Hazard could now find himself back in the Premier League as the Sun recently linked him as a target for both Arsenal and Liverpool, though he says he has agreed terms with Dortmund.

This could be important, though journalist Kristof Terreur, translating Hazard’s quotes to VTM Nieuws, adds that the clubs have not yet agreed on a fee, which surely gives Arsenal and Liverpool some hope of hijacking the deal.

Both clubs could do with attacking players this summer, with Arsenal especially in need of more quality to come in as upgrades on inconsistent pair Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Ex-Premier League star advises Solskjaer to lure £80m Chelsea ace to Manchester United in transfer window

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has urged Manchester United to sign Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante this summer.

The Red Devils hosted the Blues in a crucial Premier League fixture on Sunday, which ended 1-1, ensuring that the race for a top-four finish will go down to the wire.

Kante lined up in Maurizio Sarri’s midfield once again, but not in the holding role which he previously made his own under Antonio Conte and for France at international level.

The 28-year-old ace has been frequently deployed further up the pitch for the Italian boss this season, with Jorginho preferred in a deep-lying position just in front of the back four.

According to The Sun, speculation over Kante’s future at Stamford Bridge has ensued as a result and according to ex-Premier League star Murphy, United should try to lure the Chelsea ace to Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens.

“I’m not convinced N’Golo Kante can be happy playing out of position at Chelsea, even though he doesn’t seem a lad who kicks up a fuss,” Murphy wrote in his latest column for the Daily Mail.

N’Golo Kante in action for Chelsea

“Do what you can to see if Chelsea would be tempted by an £80m fee.

“Try to find out if Kante would like to play in front of 76,000 fans every week as the undisputed No 1 holding midfielder.”

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly planning a major squad overhaul at the end of the current campaign after a disastrous last two months at the helm.

The Norwegian oversaw 14 wins from his first 17 matches in charge but the team has reverted to old ways in recent weeks and a number of stars are now being linked with summer exits.

Murphy’s suggestion that Kante might cost as much as £80 million will not scare United officials, who are likely to release plenty of funds to bring in new faces ahead of the 2019-20 season – as per The Sun.

There is little doubt that United could use some extra bite in midfield and Kante could certainly provide that, but it remains to be seen whether or not this mooted deal will come to fruition later in the year.
